What it does on the back
In our experience, with the Body applicator the fat layer at the bra line thins and the skin firms as the warmth works over the weeks after the course. With Fractional RF the heat placed in the deeper skin rebuilds collagen under acne scars so they soften in our experience, and active acne on the back is treated first. A roll you can pinch is also a fat-freezing question at our sister clinic, and the clinician says at the free consultation which fits.
The evidence
The 2026 study of 23 patients with a device matching Exion Body measured the fat layer 22.5% thinner at three and six months, without naming the area in its abstract. BTL's own gallery shows the Body and Fractional RF applicators on the back, and no study measures the back alone, and we say so. The acne scars page covers scarring.
The session and who it suits
A conductive gel for the Body applicator or numbing cream for Fractional RF, and the handpiece worked over the back, in our experience 30 to 45 minutes. The skin is pink and warm afterwards, with one to three days of redness after Fractional RF. Someone whose weight is steady with rolls at the bra line, or acne scars across the shoulders. Not over hair or scar tissue with the Body applicator, not with an electronic or metal implant, and in our practice not in pregnancy or breastfeeding or over an active skin problem.
